How to save all your open tabs

In Chrome or Edge — and how to find them again later.

Too many tabs open, but you're not done with them? Here are three ways to save them all, from built-in to purpose-made.

1. Bookmark all tabs (built in)

Press Ctrl+Shift+D (⌘+Shift+D on a Mac) to bookmark every tab in the window into a new folder. It works everywhere, but the folders pile up in your bookmarks and don't tell you what each one was about.

2. Tab groups (built in)

Right-click a tab › Add tab to new group, name the group, then close and save it from the group's menu. Good for a handful of groups; harder to search once you have many.

3. A session manager

A session manager saves a whole window in one click and lets you reopen it later. With Retrace:

  1. Click the Retrace icon and press Save this session — or press Ctrl+Shift+S in Chrome (Alt+Shift+S in Edge) without opening anything.
  2. Want the memory back? Use the arrow next to the button › Save & close tabs. The tabs stay one click away in Retrace.
  3. Later, search for any word you remember — a page title, something you searched, a note — and reopen the session.

Retrace names each session from what the tabs actually are, keeps your tab groups, and can gather related sessions into Spaces. Everything stays on your device.
